SUMMARY

Boiler Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and cleaning of all Mechanical Department systems and equipment. They also perform preventative and proactive maintenance tasks. Boiler Operators are also accountable for discussing any problems with the Chief Mechanical Operator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Learn all methods and procedures regarding Mechanical Department operation and maintenance.
2. Perform preventative and proactive maintenance tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
3. Discuss any problems or unsafe conditions with the Chief Mechanical Operator and work with him/her on daily tasks.
4. Learn the plant process for a better understanding of how the equipment is utilized.

6. Exhibit safe work practices as a condition of employment.
7. Regular attendance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS

WORK ENVIORNMENT

This position operates in a plant environment. In the plant environment, team member will be required to adhere to all Safety requirements and may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements both inside and outside. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.

Ability to work straight or rotating shifts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this position, the team member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and exposed to chemicals.

Specific Physical requirements include:
a. Periodic work in confined spaces.
b. Occasionally lifting weights of sixty (60) pounds or less.
c. Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders up to 175 feet.
d. Opening valves.
e. Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds.
f. Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
g. Walking of two (2) plus mile per day.
h. Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
i. Working at heights, in confined spaces, and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
j. Standing for extended periods of time.
k. Elevated work is required.

SUMMARY

Operations Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of the night shift operators and working closely with them to reduce or eliminate down time. The Operations Supervisor strives for maximum efficiency in plant operations and supports operations through problem solving, adaptation, and working with other departments to correct process problems. They are also accountable for ensuring all products manufactured meet established specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Support and enforce all safety regulations.
2. Strive for maximum efficiency in plant operations, working with all departments to correct process problems.
3. Assure all products manufactured meet specifications established.
4. Supervise plant operators, maintenance, and mechanical operator(s) on off shifts.
5. Effectively communicate with Management team and other departments to keep them informed and resolve issues.
6. Train, monitor, and develop plant operators and perform appropriate coaching and the required training documentation.
7. Assure compliance of all company, State, and Federal regulatory agencies policies and rules, and assist in implementing approved changes.
8. Assure all daily documentation and accountability of required process information is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
9. Assist with Team Member performance reviews in an objective, fair, consistent, and confidential manner.
10. Make process decisions including shutting plant down if necessary.
11. Responsible to contact appropriate department manager with evening problems/concerns and call in additional personnel if needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing production background experience is required and operational background in ethanol production is a plus.

Three (3) or more years of previous supervision or leadership role is preferred.

SUMMARY

Commodity Managers are responsible for managing the safety, sanitation, cleanliness of the Grains Department. They are also accountable for managing the Commodity Supervisor, Grain Buyer(s), Commodity Assistants, and the Weigh Master. This position also requires coordinating with the Marketing partners on the movement of products and information. Commodity Managers are also in charge of managing the physical handling of corn coming in and finished products out of the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Manage the procuring of corn supplies for the facility.
a. Purchase corn from producers and elevators.
b. Oversee the contractual agreements with these purchases.
c. Hedge purchases as recommended by Commodity Marketing Company.
d. Oversee the grading of the inbound corn and dockage discounts.
2. Manage the physical handling of corn in and finished products out of the facility.
a. Monitor the quality and quantity of the inventories.
b. Manage the inventory being used for production.
c. Work with other departments to move product out of the facility.
3. Coordinate with the marketing partners the movement of products, information, and facilitate instructions.
4. Oversee the various inventory, record keeping, information gathering, documents/reports and regulatory agencies requirements for POET Biorefining in the grain areas, ethanol, and feed transportation areas.
5. Manage the safety of the grains Team Members and the areas they work in.
6. Mange the equipment used in the grain department and coordinates with other departments to insure it remains operational and is safe to use.
7. Manage the sanitation and cleanliness of the grain building, areas around the grain building, the railroad tracks, and tank farm.
8. Oversee and encourage the Commodity Supervisor, Grain Buyer, and Commodity Assistants in the tasks they perform.
9. Oversee all transactions between the plant and CBOT futures representatives and positions the plant has on CBOT.
10. Perform any other duties or requests that the General Manager may assign.
11. Ability to manage others.

SUMMARY

Operators are responsible for operating all the processes within the plant and the computer control system for the plant. They are accountable for informing the Operations Manager when production problems arise. Due to working 12-hour shifts they are responsible for keeping on-coming operators informed on current status of processes and what needs to be done for the next shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Learn and operate all processes associated with the plant.
2. Learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant.
3. Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning and batching.
4. Collect and test quality control samples on all product streams.
5. Keep accurate and timely logs.
6. Respond to collected data and process upsets, and make adjustments to optimize plant operation.
7. Keep plant facilities clean.
8. Communicate to operators coming on-shift any and all relevant information about current plant operations.
9. Operate machinery including: forklift, manlift, and front end loader.
10. Responsible for notifying the Operations Manager of any production problems.
11. Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
