Operators are responsible for operating all the processes within the plant and the computer control system for the plant.  They are accountable for informing the Operations Manager when production problems arise.  Due to working 12-hour shifts they are responsible for keeping on-coming operators informed on current status of processes and what needs to be done for the next shift.  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Learn and operate all processes associated with the plant.
Learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant.
Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning and batching.
Collect and test quality control samples on all product streams.
Keep accurate and timely logs.
Respond to collected data and process upsets, and make adjustments to optimize plant operation.
Keep plant facilities clean.
Communicate to operators coming on-shift any and all relevant information about current plant operations.
Operate machinery including: forklift, manlift, and front end loader.
Responsible for notifying the Operations Manager of any production problems.
Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
Safe work practices are a condition of employment.
Maintain a team environment with other plant departments.
Champion POET Biorefining—Ashton in the community.
Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere while representing POET.

EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. 

HS Diploma or equivalent. Experience in production plants helpful, but no experience necessary.  Competent in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a plant environment. In the plant environment, Team Member will be required to adhere to all Safety requirements and may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements both inside and outside. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the Team Member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and exposed to chemicals.
Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work.  Team Member will work at heights and must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
Specific Physical requirements include:

Occasionally working in confined spaces.
Occasionally lifting weights of sixty (60) pounds or less.
Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
Opening valves.
Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds.
Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
Walking of two (2) or more miles per day.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Procure corn from primarily producer customers and manage producer database.

Handle CBOT trades to offset company risks associated with various farmer contacts.
Monitor the purchasing and blending of damaged or distressed grains used in the process.
Assist the Weigh Master during breaks as needed.
Complete any and all tasks assigned by Commodities Manager.

EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

B.S. or greater in Ag-Business or Marketing or other formal training is required.  Three (3) – five (5) years experience working within the grain marketing industry is necessary.

Be proficient with Microsoft Office tools as well as DBC.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office environment.  In the office, the Team Member will work on a personal computer. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.
Some travel within the market/trade territory to make visits with customers will be required.

Support the purchasing of spare parts and supplies in coordination with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Clerk.
Assist the Plant Manager and Maintenance Clerk in the assembly and maintenance of the spare parts inventory.
Contact contractors and vendors directly when needed to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining plant equipment.
Work closely as directed by the Plant Manager with other operating departments to reduce or eliminate down time.
Support efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving, adaptation, and correction of process bottlenecks.
Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Plant Manager in a timely manner.
Assist in setting up preventative/proactive maintenance schedules for all equipment and maintain the PM and equipment database in the Maximo system.
Responsible for scheduling and completion of plant work orders and projects needed for repair or upgrades. 
Maintain clean and orderly work area and may assist other Plant Technicians in general cleaning duties.
Fill in for the Plant Manger when absent, as directed.
Remove, install, rebuild, weld, torch, lubricate, and clean all equipment associated with plant processes as assigned.

EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. 

HS Diploma or Equivalent. Knowledge of maintenance procedures for centrifuges, drying equipment, boilers, cooling towers, chiller, air compressors, pumps, valves, electrical circuits and equipment, and 4-20 milliamp instrumentation.

Team Member must have experience with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Project.  Two (2) or more years of experience with Maintenance management systems such as Maximo is preferred.

Team Member must have working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations. 

Some experience with fabrication, welding, cutting; repair of equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, agitator assemblies, and valves; boiler operations and water chemistry; material handling systems such as conveyors; preventative/proactive maintenance practices, fabrication and repair of metal/plastic piping systems; and instrument and electrical work preferred.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining safety process management.
Work with Operations Engineering Manager and Optimization support from Plant Management on operational/troubleshooting issues.
Complete data analysis of process information: create associated action plans and identify optimization needs.
Develop and utilize historical database reports.
Ensure that all city, county, state and federal regulations are being met at all times.
Strive for maximum efficiency in plant operations, optimize plant up-time or runtime and minimize all plant downtime.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining process safety management.
Train plant technician on all aspects of existing and updated plant processes and operations.
Facilitate communication between departments.
Ensure that all plant policies are implemented and followed.
Carry out all directives from the General Manager.

Secondary Accountabilities:

Write and coordinate procedures, and communicate to shift supervisors/plant technicians as necessary.
Present capital request justifications to the General Manager.
Communicate production performance numbers to the General Manager.

Coordinate effective communication during shift exchange to ensure safe, efficient, continuous plant operation.
Assure all products manufactured meet established specifications.
Effectively communicate with Management team and other departments to keep them informed and resolve issues.

Coordinate and discuss plans with General Manager, Technical Manager, Operations Manager, and other Plant Management to maximize plant performance.
Supervise professional, technical and support staff on a day-to-day basis, including determining workloads and schedules, implementing and interpreting policies and procedures, evaluating and training staff, approving and making hiring and termination recommendations. Responsible for performance management of all direct reports. 
Ensure that all plant policies are implemented and followed.
Facilitate communication between departments within the plant and other POET Biorefining locations to maintain an effective teamwork environment.
Develop a preventative and proactive maintenance schedule for process equipment, which is complete and effective in maximizing equipment reliability.
Create and present reports detailing maintenance activities, state of plant equipment, shut down planning, and cost control.
Assist the General Manager and Technical Manager in developing the annual Repair and Maintenance budget, and annual Capital Expense budget.
Contact contractors and vendors directly when needed to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining plant equipment.
Purchase or coordinate purchasing of all parts and supplies.
Work with the General Manager, Operations Manager, and Technical manager as a team.
Responsible for assembling and maintaining spare parts inventory to ensure minimal plant downtime.
Work closely with production and lead staff in training to reduce or eliminate down time.
Support efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving, adaptation, and correction of process bottlenecks.
Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Technical and/or General Manager.
Maintain a team environment with other plant departments.
Team Member must be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
Champion POET Biorefining-Portland in the community.
Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.
Others duties as assigned.

EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. 

Team Member must have secondry degree or greater education or other formal training within a manufacturing/production maintenance environment. Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory and/or managerial experience is beneficial.

Team Member must have knowledge of maintenance procedures for centrifuges, drying equipment, boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, valves, electrical circuits and equipment and 4-20 milliamp instrumentation.

Team Member must have experience with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Project.  Experience with Maintenance management systems such as Maximo is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations are also a requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a plant environment, as well as office environment.  In the office, the Team Member will work on a personal computer. In the plant environment, Team Member will be required to adhere to all Safety requirements and may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements both inside and outside. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the Team Member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and exposed to chemicals.
Team Member may work in confined spaces; crawl; climb ladders and/or steps up to 175 feet; and lift up to 60 pounds. Continuous operation of the plant may require 12-hour shift work and may be called in as needed. 
Team Member must be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
Specific Physical requirements include:

Occasionally working on confined spaces
Occasionally lifting weights of sixty (60) pounds or less.
Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders up to 175 feet
Opening valves.
Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds.
Occasional lifting of weights greater than fifty (50) pounds.
Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
Walking up to one (1) mile per day.
Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.

Operators are responsible for operating all the processes within the plant and the computer control system for the plant.  They are accountable for informing the Operations Manager when production problems arise.  Due to working 12-hour shifts they are responsible for keeping on-coming operators informed on current status of processes and what needs to be done for the next shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Learn and operate all processes associated with the plant.
Learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant.
 Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning and Collect and test quality control samples on all product streams.
Keep accurate and timely logs.
Respond to collected data and process upsets, and make adjustments to optimize plant operation.
Keep plant facilities clean.
Communicate to operators coming on-shift any and all relevant information about current plant operations.
Operate machinery including: forklift, manlift, and front end loader.
Responsible for notifying the Operations Manager of any production problems.
Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
Safe work practices are a condition of employment.
